Tour of Ulster Open for Pre-Entry
The 2012 edition of the UCPC Tour Of Ulster is now open for registration. The event will once again be based in the Dungannon area and entries are expected to fill up fast. Only A1 and A2 riders are eligible to take part. With top teams from Briitain and Ireland expected to line-up the race is always hard. Many teams use the event as one of their final preparation events for the An Post Rás which takes place later in the month.
The event is pre-enty only and is restricted to 100 riders so early entry is advised.… Read more
Lakeland GP and Classic Events Now Open for Pre-entry
Lakeland Sportive Saturday14th April – Lakeland CC will be kept busy in April with their Lakeland Sportive on the 14th April and two road race events the following weekend. The 100km challenging Sportive around the hills of N Leitrim / W Fermanagh will leave Belcoo Cottage Meadow with sign on at the bandstand.
There will be showers and changing facilities in Belcoo GAA pitch. Tea/coffee/refreshments in Belcoo Community Centre will be provided afer the event. (Sportive will finish outside Community Centre). Therre is no pre-entry for this event.… Read more
Important Notice for Juniors re Categories
Concerns have been expressed from several sources regarding juniors who, taking their first full competition licence from Cycling Ireland as in accordance with the decision of the 2011 Congress, these riders are expected to compete in A3 races only. Hence the Board discussed this at length at its meeting on Friday 9th March.
The feeling was that this could have a detrimental effect on juniors as those beginners over 18 are issued with an A4 licence whilst juniors are discriminated against if they have to ride A3 races.… Read more
Up Coming Events
This weekend sees two more races down for decision. On Saturday 24th March, East Tyrone promote their annual CicliSport GP with races for all categories except Under 12′s. Applications for the A and B race will only be accepted through the East Tyrone CC website. The U14, U16 and 50+ and women can either apply through the website or pay on the day. Time Square Masters League Update
There have now been four rounds of the very popular Time Square Gold CupMaster’s League events. Although the two races this weekend in Donegal and Coalisland fell on St Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day respectively there was still a good turn-out for both events. Full results for the PJ Logan Cup event can be found at the end of this article.
Next weekend sees two more events take place at the Ciclisport GP in Coagh and the Carn Wheelers Classic in Tobermore.
Currently Noel Boyce of North Down tops the leader board with four straight wins to his credit.… Read more
Feast of Racing at PJ Logan Cup 2012
Sunday 18th March saw the Island Wheelers host this prestigious race for the seventh successive year, and once again provided a fantastic days racing for all, even the notorious Irish weather was kind to the riders.
As in previous years, the race was a sell out with over 150 riders signing up to test their legs along the relentless 6.8 mile circuit outside Coalisland.
The first race of the day was the A race which undertook 8 laps of the fast and furious circuit. The A3 riders were off first and had a 5 minute handicap over the A1 riders. … Read more
St Patrick Smiles on Ulster Cyclists
St Patrick certainly did his bit for all those out riding their bikes today as, following the early morning frost and ice, St Patrick turned up the right side of the stone and the sun came out to warm everyone’s hearts.
It was a great day to be out on your bike whether racing or touring and those who turned up for the organised events had a great day.

St.Patrick’s Day Cycle Race at Burt – Donegal Harvest Potato Race
North Pole CC are organising a series of races on St Patrick’s Day at Burt between Derry and Letterkenny. Everyone will go away a winner in these races because as least they will have ‘spuds’ without which no Irish dinner is complete – just ask your granny.
Donegal Harvest Potato Processors are donating a 5kg bag of potatoes for every finisher so that there is no excuse not to get the Irish stew on the go for St Patrick’s Day.… Read more

Clann Eireann Cup – Saturday 17th March
On St Patrick’s Day, Clann Eireann will be hosting the Clann Eireann Cup on the Derrymacash circuit. This event is open to A3 and A4 riders only and places are limited to sixty riders. The event is open for pre-entry and you can enter online by going to www.clanncc.net to register online.
With no A1′s or 2′s in the event it is an opportunity for A3 and A4 riders to amass points.

Red Hand Trophy Promoted by Ballymena Northstone Chain Reaction Cycles – Saturday 14th April 2012
The Red Hand Trophy is now open for pre-entry. The Red Hand Trophy is one of the oldest and most scenic road races on the calendar. It receives full PSNI motorbike outrider support and is known as a tough race.
It is an ideal training race for those contemplating participating in the May Bank Holiday, Tour of Ulster or the An Post Rás later in May.
