We’re almost at the end of January so Women's Cycling Ulster thought it was about time we let you know about some of the events we’ve been working on over the past few months. Hopefully you’ll find something of interest to challenge yourself during 2015! We cover everything from road racing, to time trials, off road and leisure so we are sure we will have something to interest you.

With the road racing season due to start in six weeks Cycling Ulster are calling on clubs to consider promoting one or more of the remaining Ulster Championships. Our championship events are always eagerly looked forward to by riders across disciplines, ages and genders. Currently there are a few of our major champsionships not in the calendar. These include the Ulster RR, the Ulster Youth Championships, the Hill Climb and the Criterium.

Almost 160 people showed up for the Ulster Awards evening which was held in the White River Hotel in Toome on Saturday night. If the National CX Championships were not taking place the following day this number would have been much greater as we received many apologies.
It is very heart-warming for both the Cycling Ulster Executive and for the promoters of our championships to see how people value these championships and are proud to receive an Ulster medal. It is especially good that so many of our young riders came along to receive their awards.… Read more
The Ulster Awards evening will take place on Saturday 10th January in the White River Hotel in Toome. Special guest for the evening will be the President of Cycling Ireland, Denis Toomey. Other invited guests include Jack and Rea Watson, Morris Foster and Alan Mark.
The evening is always very enjoyable and well attended. Many of our youngest cyclists attend the evening to receive their awards. For this reason all those under 14 years of age will have the same three course meal as the adults but it will be subsidised by Cycling Ulster.… Read more

The Board of Cycling Ireland is pleased to announce a number of new records which have been recently approved. For Ulster interest John Madden (Dig Deep Inspired), Mark Downey (Nicholas Roche Performance Team) and Marcus Christie (An Post) broke a number of Time Trial records.
On the track Declan Mulholland of Clann Eireann broke the 4 Kms S/S record as part of Team Ireland along with Sean Grimes, Mark Downey and Fintan Ryan.

Fast Times at Woodgreen
The concluding round of the 2014 Ernie Magwood Super 6 took place at Woodgreen on the 13th September, the two riders who had a tilt at the Irish elite and Veterans 10 miles records a Rd 5, Marcus Christie and John Madden were once again back and raring to go. Conditions this time were much more favourable, the SW wind present at Rd5 replaced with a slight headwind on the return leg, but also high temperatures and good visibility making for good safe and fast conditions.… Read more
Ryan Mullen has won a silver medal in the Men's U23 Time Trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Ponferrada, Spain today. In extremely wet conditions the Irish man took control of the race from the start, posting the fastest time at each time check along the route. With three riders to go, it looked like Ireland would secure the gold, until a fast finishing Campbell Flakemore (Aus) narrowly pipped Mullen, to take the World Title. Flakemore took gold, Mullen silver, and Stefan Keung (SUI) won the bronze medal.… Read more
Phoenix Take Honours in Two Up
The annual mixed two up time trial took place on Sunday in glorious sunshine. The event which had been cancelled last year was resurrected this year by the hard working Church Island Cycling club. Unfortunately due to the rescheduled Women's and Vets national Championship falling on the same weekend some of the regular contenders were missing.
Five teams took to the line on the Toome course and were timed off by Gordon Parker. Favourites were Eileen and Jason Burns of Ballymena CRC as Eileen has been putting in some super times in recent events.… Read more

Sunday 21st September _ Mixed Two-Up Time Trial - Toome
