The Cycling Ireland Annual General Meeting will take place on 26th October 2013, at 11am, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Monaghan Town. Delegates are requested to arrive prior to 1045 in order to facilitate a timely start to the AGM. Since it is Ulster’s turn to host the AGM we would encourage clubs to send representatives to this meeting.
There wil be an election to select the new President of Cycling Ireland as out-going President Rory Wyley has decided not to stand for re-election, The current nominees for the position are Denis Toomey and Ciaran McKenna.… Read more
Records Smashed at 100 mile TT Championships
Twenty six brave souls lined up at Woodgreen this morng for the ‘Race of truth’ – a one hundred mile time trial run by Ballymoney CC . This was also the Ulster 100m TT Championships.
The morning was fine and sunny and became warm but there was a blustery wind which caught the deep section rims and disc wheels. Not an ideal day for records to be broken but fall they did.
John Madden of Curran Racing who held both the senior and veteran records at this distance with a time of 3:45:05 going in to today’s event went all out to prove that he could go even faster.… Read more
The Ballymoney CC hosted Ulster 100 mile Time Trial Championships will go ahead this Sunday 29th on the A26 (Woodgreen) course.
The roadworks were cleared today at 4,30pm and all 4 lanes are clear.
Sign on is from 8.00am and the first rider is off at 9.00am.
The organisers would really apprecitae it if anyone was free to come along to help out even for a short time to relieve some of the crew.

Riders are reminded of the following
- riding on or close to the centre white line is NOT permitted and penalties or disqualificaton may be applied
- warming up on the course is not permitted once the event has started
- no one is to pass the time keeper when they are warming up once the event has started.
Ireland’s Mark Downey finished in 48th place in the Junior Men’s Time Trial at the World Championships in Italy today. The first year Junior rode a consistent and steady race over the 21.8km course, to finish in a time of 29.13.63, with a speed of 44.75kmph.
The World Title was won by Igor Decraene of Belgium, with Mathias Krigbaum (Denmark) and Zeke Mostov (USA) taking silver and bronze respectively. The UCI Road World Championships in Toscana, Italy started this week, and run from the 22nd – 29th September.… Read more
Ireland’s Ryan Mullen demonstrated the strength and depth of his talent in the U23 Time Trial today at the World Championships, finishing in 7th place out of 74 starters in the 42.79km race against the clock. Teammate Marcus Christie finished in a strong 28th place, in the event that was won by Australia’s Damien Howson, ahead of Paillot (France) and Hansen (Denmard).
The UCI Road World Championships in Toscana, Italy started this week, and run from the 22nd – 29th September. 19 year old Mullen is in his first year racing as a senior, and has already stamped his mark in track cycling, winning two Bronze medals in the European U23 Championships earlier this summer.… Read more
Eleven Irish riders will compete across the Junior, U23 and Elite Men and Women categories at the UCI Road World Championships in Toscana, Italy starting this week. The Championships run from the 22nd – 29th September, with Ireland entering strong teams across these events.
This afternoon in the Men’s U23 Time Trial, Ireland will have two entrants; Ryan Mullen and Marcus Christie. In his first year out of Junior, Mullen has already stamped his mark in the U23 ranks, winning two Bronze medals in the European U23 Track Championships earlier this summer.… Read more
The event was promoted by the UCPC for the first time and they pulled out all the stops to make this a memorable day. The weather remained dry and very mild with the temperature sitting at 20 degrees and a light wind
The course along the new carriageway from Dungannon to Ballygawley was excellent in that the surface as smooth and there was little traffic. There is a climb or long drag on the course which proved tough but fast times were still recorded.… Read more
The 2013 Ulster ’25′ mile Time Trial Championships will take place on Sunday 22nd September, at 10.00am Promoted by the UCPC (Ulster Cycle Promotions Club). Sign-on opens from 9 am at Dungannon Swifts Football Club. The Time trial course will be on the A4 duel Carriage way, where riders will start from Mullybannon junction and ride to Ballygawley Roundabout and returning to the end of the duel carriage way.
Entries will be accepted on the morning, with an entry fee of £10. Championship medals will be awarded after the TT, for the various titles at Dungannon Swift’s football Club, where showers and refreshments will be available after the event.… Read more
Following his impressive ride at the Port Talbot Time Trial last weekend, Marcus Christie has been selected to race in the U23 Time Trial at the World Championships. Christie will join Ryan Mullen, who had been previously selected for the Time Trial. Eleven Irish riders will compete across the Junior, U23 and Elite Men and Women categories at the UCI Road World Championships in Toscana, Italy at the end of the month.
Nicolas Roche, who is having an outstanding performance in the Vuelta d’Espagne, will compete in the Elite Men’s Time Trial, as well as in the Road Race.… Read more
The Irish riders showed well in the event with Ryan Mullan placing second, Michael Hutchinson fourth and Conor Dunne fifth. The time trial will also have improved Marcus Christie’s chances of being selected for the World Championships due to take place in Italy later this month.
