There was a strong showing from Ulster riders in the Cycleways Cup races promoted by Navan Avonmore today. Conor Muphy from Emyvale, riding for the Eurocycle team held off a strong challenge from Damian Shaw of Aqua Blue to take the prestigious A event at Navan.
Gary Jeffers of East Tyrone, who has managed to shoot into the limelight recently in A1 events with his fantastic win at the Hewitt and Gilpin Phoenix GP took a well deserved fouth in this event proving that this 23 year old has undiscovered depths as a cyclist. Stephen McKenna of Omagh Wheelers was first unplaced A2 rider but it is unclear if he managed to get into the top 8 positions.
In the A3 event it was Daniel Stewart of East Antrim Audi who managed to fly the Ulster flag with a superb fourth position. Mark Downey from Banbridge currently riding for the Nicolas Roche Performance Team was second to Jason Prendergast (Cunga CC) in the junior category.
In the A4 event it was Damien Foley (Donegal Bay) who took fourth position with Amy Brice (Phoenix CC) taking first in the women's event.
