The P&O Ferries Tour of the North gets underway this Friday evening with the familiar Stormont hill climb. The line up this year sees just over half of the riders hailing from outside Ireland so there is a true international feel to the event.
There are some tough stages planned for the remaining three days. On Saturday the Tour moves to County Down, starting in Rathfriland and heading into the Mourne mountains with a tough climb at Spelga Dam.
On Sunday the event moves to Magherafelt, and heads out into the Sperrins with a loop around Lough Fea. The final stage on Monday is the more familiar stage which heads out of Broughshane and takes in the beautiful Antrim coast road with climbs at Shane' Hill and Glenarriff.
The Cycling Ulster/Slane Cycles team consists of Ian Inglis, Cormac Clarke, Kyle Cole, Daniel Stewart and Peter Wilson and they will be managed by Sean McNicholl.
