The Tour of the Orchard County - Sunday 24th June 2012
Linwoods Brings Pedal Power to Orchard County
Armagh food company, Linwoods has been announced as headline sponsor of the province’s newest charity cycling event, The Tour of the Orchard County which takes place in County Armagh on Sunday 24th June 2012.
Organised by the Armagh Tigers Charitable Trust, this non-competitive but highly exciting cycling event already boasts a number of professional participants from the UK and Ireland, including former RAS winner Stephen Gallagher and Cevelo rider, Dan Fleeman.
The inaugural Tour of the Orchard County, sponsored by Linwoods will raise funds for NSPCC and expects to see up to 1000 participants making their way through the beautiful County Armagh countryside on two separate cycling routes, one 58k and the other 110k, both of which will showcase the historic and scenic delights of region.
Cyclists are reminded that online entries (at just £25 stg for both routes) are strongly recommended at www.touroftheorchardcounty.com
Whilst Armagh has been famous for centuries for its exquisite blossoming apple orchards, more recently the orchard county has been put on the world map by Linwoods thanks to its healthy-eating Superfoods. Linwoods range of nutrient-rich milled seeds, nuts and berries is now enjoyed all across the world, including the USA, and Linwoods Superfoods products are regularly spotted in the shopping baskets of Hollywood icons.
Part of the County Armagh community for over 30 years, Linwood bakery, dairy and health foods business is also renowned for offering support to local community and charity initiatives.
Brenda Beattie, Sales and Marketing Manager for Linwoods said;
“Linwoods is proud and excited to be headline sponsor of the first ever Tour of the Orchard County and we will be right behind the organisers, helping to fuel the event from start to finish. We strongly believe in giving something back into the community that has supported us for past 30 years and we are particularly keen to encourage local sporting events, as well as healthy and active lifestyles. This sponsorship is a perfect fit and we hope to help establish this fantastic event as a key highlight in the province’s sporting calendar.
“Cyclists are athletes that need stamina and a healthy diet to help maintain peak performance, particularly over long distances. Linwoods Superfoods can help prepare cyclists during their training with a wealth of nutrients and vitamins and indeed add nutrition to anyone’s diet, regardless of their fitness level, to improve their health and vitality.”
Kieran McAnallen, Armagh Tigers said
“The Tour of The Orchard County sponsored by Linwoods is a fresh and exciting, non-competitive cycling event - and a very worthy one too with proceeds going to the NSPCC. We are immensely proud to have Linwoods on board as headline sponsor and their support, and indeed the support of all our sponsors, is key to the success of the event. We are calling on all cycling enthusiasts - whether young or old, professional or amateur - to join in this great occasion on Sunday 24th June. The entry fee for the event is £25 and cyclists have the choice of two routes, 58km and 110km which all start and finish in the luxury setting of the Armagh City Hotel. Event numbers will be capped at 1000 so if you don’t want to miss out on being part of history in the first running of the Tour of the Orchard County, book your place now!”
NSPCC community fundraising manager, Clare Galbraith added:
"I would like to thank the Armagh Tigers for organising this fantastic event and for nominating the NSPCC as the benefiting charity. The NSPCC’s direct services, provided to children and families across Northern Ireland, aim to show the best way to protect children and help them get over the effects of abuse. We really couldn’t continue helping local vulnerable children and young people without the support of groups like this. This is the second time that the Armagh Tigers have supported the NSPCC. After a fantastic 'Take me Out' event in Armagh in 2011, we have no doubt that the Tour of the Orchard County event sponsored by Linwoods is also going to be a huge success.”
Please send all enquiries regarding entries to the Event Organisers email: firstname.lastname@example.org
