Upcoming Events this Week
There are lots of events in the coming days which include three time trials, a criterium, road races and leisure events including one specifically for women only.
Thursday 7th June 2012 – Eric Maxwell TT – Warrenpoint - POSTPONED
This event has been postponed due to heavy rainfall on the Warrenpoint course. West Down Wheelers will seek an alternative date in the calendar.
Thursday 7th June 2012 - UWA TT - Woodgreen
On Thursday night Ballymena Chain Reaction will host a 25 mile time trial as part of the Ulster Women's Association Bikeworks TT League. This event is for women holdng a club competition licence as a minimum. Riders are reminded that a working rear red light visible from 100 metres is compulsory.
Friday 8th June 2012 – Enniskillen Criterium
Friday 8th June will mark the second successful year running for the Lakeland Island Town Centre Criterium run by Lakeland Cycling club in partnership with Fermanagh district Council. It is a fast paced, thrilling, spectator friendly event run around the only island town in Ireland The event will start at the Town Hall in Enniskillen and will be run over a series of laps run in a clockwise direction around the town on closed roads.
The Lakeland Town Centre Criterium starts at 7.30pm with sign on taking place at Pats Bar, The Diamond, Enniskillen Town Centre between 6-7pm. There will be a ceremonial start at the Townhall followed by one neutralised lap. A very generous prize fund is on offer and this event is open to A1 – A3 category riders.

3x £50 Primes at 10 minute intervals. Entries will also be accepted on the evening of the race.
Saturday 9th June Emma McMullan RR
On Saturday 9th June 2012 Dromara Cycling Club is hosting the Emma McMullan Trophy & Ronnie Smyth Trophy open road races around the 8 mile Annahilt triangle circuit.
There will be 4 races on the day:
- A' race - for A1, A2, and A3 riders
- B' race - for A4 riders
- Over 50s race
- Women's race
The Emma McMullan Trophy will go to the winner of the A' race and the Ronnie Smyth Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the B' race. There will be cash prizes for the top 3 in the Over 50s race. The Women's race is part of the Ulster Women's Association League*.
*Those entering the UWA event or the Master's event only requires a club competition licence. One day licences are not available for these events.
The trophies have been kindly sponsored by KJM Electrics of Crossgar and RS Contracts Ballynahinch. There will also be prizes for the first unplaced A2 and A3 riders as well as first unplaced Junior.
Race Headquarters
Race headquarters will be at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club on the junction of the Comber Road / Ballynahinch Road in Hillsborough. Toilets, changing and showering facilities will be available with refreshments and sandwiches for all after the race
Race start times and locations
All riders will be rolled out from Hillsborough at 11 am and escorted to Annahilt.
The A' race (A1s, A2s and A3s) will commence at approximately 11:15 on a rolling start.
The B' race (A4s) will commence at approximately 11:20 from the Glebe Road, Annahilt.
The Over 50s race will start at approximately 11:25 from Glebe Road, Annahilt
The Women's race will start at approximately 11:30 from Glebe Road, Annahilt
Sign on will open at 09:45 am.

Sunday 10th June 2012 – Round 3 Super Six TT League
On Sunday Morning Island Wheelers and East Tyrone continue their promotion of the Ernie Magwood Super Six Time Trial series. Sunday’s event will take place on the Cookstown- Omagh Road and sign on is from 9 am. The first rider is off at 10.00 am. All riders must have a restricted licence or full competition licence to ride this event. £5 entry fee.
Sunday 10th June 2012 – Danny Boy Races
Roe valley CC are promoting a programme of road races on Sunday 10th June. There will be racing for A4, Women and Over 50s.Oakley sun glasses for each race winner, so you can win again in style!
Race HQ is in Owenbeg, Derry GAA Centre of Excellence, Foreglen Road, Dungiven, BT47 7PW. Full shower and changing facilities available.
Sign on opening at 11.30. Race start in Feeny village
Race 1 - 13.00 A4
Race 2 - 13.15 Over 50s
Race 3 - 13.20 Women
Entries are limited to 80 per race, so A4s are advised to enter asap. Entries will be accepted on a 1st come, 1st served basis. Women and Over 50s please note that prize funds and catering will be influenced by numbers of advanced entries. Please help us to help you by getting an entry form in!
The Race Circuit is approx 12 miles long and is of medium difficulty. Women and Over 50s will compete over three circuits (36 miles), A4 four circuits (48 miles).
We are delighted to have Drumcovitt House offering overnight accommodation right on the finish line if you want a weekend break for the family in the Sperrins. It is in a beautiful spot with fantastic views.
Leisure Events This Weekend
Sunday 10th June – Heels on Wheels
On Sunday Omagh Wheelers promote the first of their Heels on Wheels women only leisure cycles. They trialled this in 2011 and the format proved to be hugely successful. The event will be supporting Breast Cancer Locally

David McCall Sportive – Sunday 10th June
The David McCall Sportive promoted by Maryland Wheelers takes place on Sunday 10th June and pre-entry is now open. Pre-entry for the David McCall Sportive will close on Sunday 3rd June 2012 at 11.59 pm. Fee for the event is £15. Fee after close of online entry will be £20.

On the day there will be two routes on offer to suit beginners, enthusiasts and experienced cyclists. Both circuits will leave from the start and finish location at the Hillsborough Village Centre, Hillsborough.
The 50 km route is on the quiet roads of the County Down countryside.
The 110 km route rolls along the quiet roads and foothills of the Mournes; however there is an additional 30 km which takes the riders up to one of the most scenic areas within the Mourne Mountains, Spelga Dam. The riders taking up the challenge of the 110 km route descend into Newcastle before heading homewards
Facilities on the day will include:
- Car Parking
- Changing and showering
- Refreshments at Dundrum and Spelga
- First Aid
- Broom Wagon
And at the finish
There will be Soup and refreshments at the finish where those cyclists who completed their respective route will receive a certificate of their achievement and a drinks bottle as a memento of the occasion.

- Registration between 9.00am and 9:30am. Please arrive on time
