National Classic League Kicks off this Sunday in Donegal
The first of the National League Classic Events takes pace this coming Sunday 21st March in Donegal at 12.00 noon. This event is NOT pre-entry. Entries will be on the morning of the race with sign-on open at 10.30am. The race starts and finishes in Termon, 9 miles north of Letterkenny and is open to A+, A1 and A2 riders. The course is based on last year's John Deere race and will certainly be a challenge. It consists of an out and back loop with a finishing circuit, as opposed to a circuit race. The race itself is the fourth Four Masters Classic which is sponsored by John Deere.
Total race distance will be approximately 120km which is slightly short of the guidelines but this has been approved in advance. As this is the first of the National League races and a tough circuit it should prove to be challenging enough for a National League Event. There are several short hills and two long climbs on the course, so the first wearer of the Irish Classic League Leaders Jersey will be a worthy one. At the same time there are good prizes on offer and the course is certainly different to the usual diet of circuit races. Race entry is 15 with neutral service and a broom wagon provided, and with showers, tea and sandwiches after to get the recovery going.
This is a challenging and exciting course, and we are sure that riders will find the change refreshing. We expect that the best riders in the country will be on the start line, and fans are more than welcome to come along to witness the battle for the win and the Leaders Jersey on any of the numerous vantage points around the course.
